Boost Your sports uniform business: Google Ads Success Case Study
From Zero to Winter Sales Momentum for a New Sports Uniform Brand
This customised sports uniform supplier came to us as a completely new business with no brand recognition and no prior Google Ads history. There were no previous campaigns to optimise, no historical data to guide strategy, and no established online demand tied specifically to the brand. This was a true ground-up build, launching a Google Ads strategy for a new entrant in a competitive sportswear and teamwear market.

about the sports uniform business
This Australian supplier specialises in customised teamwear, sports uniforms, and branded apparel for clubs and organisations. As a new business, the goal was to generate early traction, build awareness among sporting clubs, and create consistent enquiry flow leading into peak winter season.
Without existing brand recognition, campaigns needed to capture non-branded search intent and introduce the company to clubs that may not have heard of them yet.
The challenge was to identify which products and sports would gain momentum first.
The problem
Starting from scratch meant there was no performance history to lean on. Keyword volume for niche sports categories appeared limited in standard research tools, and initial results were slow while Google gathered data.
Additionally, most orders were taken offline, and the sales cycle from enquiry to confirmed uniform order could be lengthy. This made short-term revenue attribution difficult and required patience while campaigns matured.

our solution
We began by launching general “all products” campaigns to generate early data and identify performance patterns. Careful keyword research and audience layering were applied from day one, alongside full geo-targeting and overseas exclusions to maintain budget efficiency.
As conversions began coming through, we maintained close communication with the client to understand what was selling on their side. This collaboration uncovered an unexpected performer: beanies. Despite appearing minor initially, beanies gained strong traction among clubs preparing for winter.
We also identified other sports that were converting, even when keyword planner data suggested limited search volume.
Based on real sales feedback, we proactively built new campaigns around these sports categories, trusting performance signals over static volume estimates.
Structured industry and campaign-level negative keyword lists were built and applied. Comprehensive campaign assets (including callouts, sitelinks, and structured snippets) were added to strengthen visibility and credibility. Conversion tracking was implemented properly, ensuring accurate measurement of purchases and enquiries.
This combination of data analysis and client collaboration allowed the account to evolve strategically rather than relying solely on keyword research assumptions.
results
Over the 12-month period, the campaigns generated 16,700 clicks from 1.41 million impressions, resulting in 342 conversions from a total ad spend of $16,300. What began as a slow-starting account gained strong momentum during winter, a clear example that Google Ads requires strategic patience, particularly for new brands.
Beanies emerged as an unexpected “gateway product,” introducing the business to numerous sporting clubs throughout the winter season. These smaller orders created valuable brand exposure and opened conversations for future upsells.
Several niche sports delivered both purchases and enquiries once campaigns were built around them.
While the majority of revenue is finalised offline and long lead times prevent immediate full revenue attribution, these early results represent a strong and promising start for a brand-new customised teamwear supplier.
